This is a list of all the bands we've recently written about, from August 1st to the present. It's updated in order of last press time and alphabetical order to ensure that bands get equal press time from us.

( Here. )
Band names, from headliner to opener, bolded, MySpace or website linked
Date: Day of the week, Date, Month
Doors: 0 pm/am
Cover: 0$ (if it's free, say it in caps; if you can't find the cover anywhere, put anything from "Unknown" to "Don't pay cover! Fuck capitalism!" Generally the latter strategy works better if you're on friendly terms with one or all of the bands, and know that they won't hate you for saying it.)
The Venue (the venue's address, don't forget to link to the venue's website if it has one)
Notes: Either talk about each of the bands in brief, or one or two of them in detail. Sometimes we just write about the headliner or, if the headliner's not from Alberta, one of the opening bands. It's up to you, and in the future when you post you'll be able to decide how much you write about a show, but for this exercise I'm looking for a decently-sized paragraph.
18+/ALL AGES!
An example of a well-researched, properly formatted listing would be:
Alex Boiselle
Doors: 10 pm
Cover: Unknown
King Henry VIII Pub (221 8th Ave SW)
Notes: I have seen Boiselle listed as a Bluegrass musician. This may be true; I don't know enough about bluegrass to say, but it's not the first word that would have come to mind. Rather, he seems a bit folky, and, sure, a little roots, but he's not quite as quirky as most "roots"-billed acts that seem to come through here. His music is stripped-down and deceptively simple; the emphasis here is on the words, not some elaborate melody. Generally, comparing anybody to figures like Bob Dylan is asking for trouble, but the comparison probably works here, if only on the basis of Boiselle's vocal emphases; he has some of the same nasal edge as Dylan, but, thankfully, you can actually understand what the fuck he's singing. His MySpace advertisement says he plays slide guitar and harmonica. He is not, unlike many of the solo artists kicking around this city, barely 20 and full of post-public-school middle-class-tortured angst. If you feel like a pub tonight, he probably has something to say you haven't heard before.
18+
It's less intimidating than it sounds. Half the trouble is the research, the other half is learning the formatting -- past that, everything's a piece of cake. Get these back to me as soon or as late as you want, but listings are due by 5 pm the night before they happen; past that, I can't guarantee they'll get posted.

To claim a show, either reply to the e-mail or comment (anonymously or otherwise) with your name below. Shows will be crossed off as they are claimed. Shows left unclaimed will be assigned to writers who haven't claimed shows yet. Italicized shows are the ones we're writing about for any given week.
At the very latest, shows must be turned in by the Saturday night before they happen. If they're not in by then, there is no guarantee that they will be published.
